Day 1 Our adventure begins as we depart the Waterloo Region and fly west to Calgary. Upon arrival, we’ll meet our motor coach and driver and travel to Red Deer, where we’ll settle into our hotel for the night. Holiday Inn Express, Red Deer, AB
Day 2 We’ll head further west into the Canadian Rockies and embark on an iconic experience. At the Columbia Icefields, you’ll travel on an all-terrain Ice Explorer to the Athabasca Glacier, a 10,000-year-old sheet of ice. Then, you’ll head to the glass-floored Skywalk for a jaw-dropping stroll beyond the cliff’s edge. Tonight, we find ourselves nestled at the base of towering Mt. Wilson, and surrounded by stunning mountain vistas and glaciers, The Crossing Resort boasts a spectacular alpine location unmatched anywhere in North America! Day 3 We’ll make our way to the town of Banff, where the Banff Gondola allows us to Soar to Sulphur Mountain’s summit and take in sweeping views of six mountain ranges, the Bow Valley and the charming town of Banff. Enjoy the views along our scenic drive before we take the Trans-Canada Hwy east to Calgary. We’ve selected a hotel conveniently located near the C-Train to allow for convenience getting to and from the Stampede grounds. Best Western, Calgary (B)
Day 4 It’s time to dust off your spurs and break out the cowboys boots, we’re off to the World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo – Calgary Stampede! The calibre of a rodeo comes down to two things: the skill of the competitors and the quality of the horses, bulls and steers. The Stampede Rodeo features the world’s best competitors and animals. There will be plenty of time before and after the rodeo to take in the grounds, exhibits and shows of the Calgary Stampede. Best Western, Calgary (B)
Day 5 Enjoy the day at your leisure or head in early to visit the exhibits before taking in the Calgary Stampede Evening Show, a unique entertainment doubleheader that takes place nightly. The blast of a klaxon kicks off the Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Races. When the last wagon thunders over the finish line, the fan-favourite Relay Races starts and the best Indigenous Relay Racing teams take the track! To conclude the evening, the Grandstand Show presented by Freedom Mobile dazzles audiences with elaborate song and dance numbers, acrobatics, and concludes with a spectacular fireworks finale in the night sky! Day 6 It’s time to hang up our cowboy hats and bid farewell to Alberta as we fly from Calgary back to Ontario—bringing home trailblazing memories of the Rockies, shimmering glaciers, and all the thrills of the Stampede. (B)
