Washingtonians herald the departure of winter when the world-famous cherry blossoms cast their characteristic pink petals over the Tidal Basin. Giant colourful balloons, marching bands, and performers will burst down Constitution Avenue in an energy-filled spectacle of music and showmanship seen only once a year during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Day 1 Driving down to Lancaster PA will be quicker than you imagine. Arrive for dinner and show at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre for RAGTIME – the musical. Set in early twentieth-century New York, three distinctively American family tales are woven together thru a genre of great music. Heritage Hotel, Lancaster, PA (D)
Day 2 After a short drive to DC visit the White House Visitor’s Center to explore an interactive touchscreen tour. This afternoon has been set aside to wander through the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest complex with 19 museums. The sightseeing continues with an Illuminated Monument Driving Tour of Washington’s grand buildings, memorials, and monuments. Spend the next 2 nights at Springhill Suites, Gaithersburg, MD (B,D)
Day 3 This morning we are off to view the Cherry Blossom Parade from our Premium Grandstand Seating. Your preferred vantage point will secure you up-close encounters of performances. Later this afternoon, it's "All Aboard" the Odyssey III Cruise Ship. Enjoy a Cherry Blossom Cruise, as we cruise along the Potomac River with breathtaking views of the blossoms. A mid-day meal is included on the boat this afternoon. Afterwards we depart on a Pink Stroll and photo opportunity among the Japanese cherry trees and memorials. (B,MM)
Day 4 A relaxing, scenic journey through the rolling hills of Pennsylvania will bring us home to Ontario. After a busy weekend, you can rest up on the journey home. (B)
