The allure of the water… A coastline dotted with lighthouses and fascinating fishing villages make for a well-crafted tour, but where in the world would we find such a treasure? Our hotels have been handpicked for their proximity to the water. From the Gulf of St. Lawrence - Percé Rock juts off the tip of Quebec's Gaspé Peninsula… like a ship at sea.
DAY 1 Making our way east we stay at the new SHERATON, Saint Hyacinthe, QC.
DAY 2 Our journey along the coast of the St. Lawrence lands us amidst a true Mecca of art and sculpture. See why St-Jean-Port-Joli is considered the wood carving capital. Le Gaspésiana, Sainte-Flavie, QC (B)
DAY 3 Learn about the Empress of Ireland sinking just off the shores of the St. Lawrence. Wander through the prestigious Matamajaw Salmon Club, and discover the rich history left behind. Le Riotel, Bonaventure, QC (B,L,D)
DAY 4 & 5 Netting 200 years of fishing stories, a visit to the historic fishing village of Paspébiac is another chapter of when “COD WAS GOD”. We spend 2 nights in Percé and a highlight is sure to be the cruise around Percé Rock and Bonaventure Island. Auberge Les Trois Soeurs, Perce, QC (B,L,D,B)
DAY 6 Travel counter-clockwise around the Gaspé Peninsula for the most dramatic coastal views so very close to the water. Conquer the 600-meter loop trail at Forillon National Park and say you walked to Land's End. All this talk about water and we can learn a thing or two about the St. Lawrence ecosystem at Exploramer. Riotel Hotel, Matane, QC (B,L,D)
DAY 7 Take time to stop and smell the roses at Reford Gardens, a fine example of outstanding horticultural art. We’ve come full circle and begin our journey west along the mighty shores of the St. Lawrence River. Dinner at a traditional Cabane à Sucre is the perfect setting for our last evening in La Belle Quebec. Les Suites Laviolette, Trois Rivieres, QC (B,D)
DAY 8 The history of Trois Rivieres comes alive during our tour of Borealis, one of the only buildings still in existence that can bear witness to the birth of pulp and paper.
