We’ve added more islands so we can take you on more Down East coastal drives. History comes alive in Atlantic Canada, an enchanting cluster of provinces that are known for their rugged coastline and distinct maritime culture. New Brunswick is a land of small and friendly communities. Across the Bay of Fundy is Nova Scotia, a province filled with idyllic fishing villages. Venture to Prince Edward Island via the Confederation Bridge and tour attractions that pay homage to the much-beloved Anne of Green Gables novels. The gem of this in-depth tour is sure to be a 3 night stay on Ile de Madeleine, amongst local islanders who understand their rich and fragile ecology.
DAY 1 & 2 Sit back and enjoy the ride as we travel east along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City. Known for its “joie de vivre,” countless restaurants & gorgeous sights, Quebec City is the perfect combination of European ambiance and Québécois hospitality. Our hotel for the next 2 nights is just outside the walled city. We’ll venture over to Ile D’Orleans, for an included lunch on this island overflowing with charm. Delta Hotel, Quebec City QC
DAY 3 We begin our trek south to New Brunswick and arrive in Moncton for the night. Hampton Inn Downtown, Moncton, NB
DAY 4, 5 & 6 A mere hop, skip and a jump across the Confederation Bridge and then ferry ride from PEI to Ile De Madeleine and voila we will be to our hotel on the coast by mid-evening. Our home for the next 3 nights is the Chateau Madelinot, Fatima, QC Other highlights include:
- Tour of the Seal Interpretive Centre (learn all there is about the native seals)
- Le Fumoir d’Antan (let your senses guide you through the smokehouse tour)
- Musee de la Mer (located on a cliffside, it’s a perfect backdrop for the Museum of the Sea)
- Excursions Mer (mackerel fishing charter (2 hours) – so rewarding everyone can fish)
- Included dinner at our hotel in the dining room overlooking the sea
DAY 7 An early morning ferry returns to Prince Edward Island where we check into our resort. With its four-star facilities, tranquil setting within Brudenell River Provincial Park, and wide variety of activities offered on-site, Rodd Brudenell River Resort offers an unparalleled resort destination in Eastern Prince Edward Island. We’ll stay for 2 nights.
DAY 8 Tour Prince Edward Island and see why they fondly call it ‘Precious Every Inch’. A highlight is sure to be the Anne of Green Gables home. Lunch is included. Famous for its red sand, we’ll visit a beach, so you can dip your toes in the Atlantic Ocean.
DAY 9 Our travels take us up to Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Island, known for its amazing natural beauty and captivating historical and cultural roots. We spend 2 nights in Sydney. Hampton Inn, Sydney NS
DAY 10 Experience the Cabot Trail, a road that winds thru stunning landscapes, and beside the spectacular rugged highlands of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park of Canada. Lunch is included.
DAY 11 Early afternoon we find ourselves in Halifax with free time to walk about or take in the local attractions or even a cruise. We spend the next 2 nights at the Hampton Inn, Halifax NS
DAY 12 A local guide joins us as we spend the day in Mother Nature's Playground, including a visit to Peggy’s Cove and an included lunch in the quaint fishing village of Lunenburg. Picturesque Lunenburg lies nestled along the scenic shores of southern Nova Scotia.
DAY 13 We begin our journey back home and spend the night in Saint John NB. Hilton Hotel, Saint John NB
DAY 14 Today our travels find us leaving the Maritime Provinces behind and entering ‘La Belle Province de Quebec’ where we have dinner at a traditional sugar shack and spend the night in Trois Rivieres. Les Suites Laviolette, Trois Rivieres QC
DAY 15 Homeward bound with plenty of fond memories and picture-perfect postcards.
